Sriracha emergency

The days when a single bottle of this chili sauce would have lasted us a full year are long gone. Our friend E. brought the predecessor of the one pictured above, and it was nearly a year to the day that we drained the last dregs from it and cracked open its successor, which arrived in September this year in my mother’s luggage, enthusiastically wrapped in multiple layers of 80-mil plastic and duct tape. As the photo illustrates, it is definitely not on track to make it to next Labor Day. Our stepped-up production of curries, spring rolls, the recently mentioned scorching soup and, most recently, falafel, has been putting an undue strain on the strategic chili-sauce reserves.

So this is not so much a post as a cry for help: any readers who are already planning on putting a package in the mail in the next month or so are highly encouraged to throw in a bottle of Sriracha from the good folks at Huy Fong. As Magda put it recently, “I don’t know if I can stay married to you if we don’t have Sriracha.”
