Since yesterday’s awestruck post we’ve moved up in the rankings a fair bit thanks to all your avid voting, but it still looks pretty grim. That will mean all sorts of self-deprecating sour-grapesy jocularity, which you are no doubt dying to see. In an effort to spare you that sight, I have been launching DOS attacks on a witty Paris-dweller and calling in as many internet favors as I can invent.
Twittervision knows if you tell anything less than THE WHOLE TRUTH
Does “all sort of self-deprecating sour-grapesy jocularity” = a post in which you take a passive-aggressive swipe at the winner, engage in unrepentant faux self-loathing, and excoriate us for not forcing everyone we know to vote on penalty of death because it will CLEARLY be our fault?
Because that would be awesome.
If you do win, I expect a post full-to-overflowing with false modesty, a post that is simply an exercise in fishing for more compliments. If you have trouble getting into that mindset, think to yourself “What Would Miss Piggy Do?”

“Crushed” is all relative.
After my most recent vote, there are a total of 202 votes that have been cast. You are #2 with 25% or 50 votes. She Who Must Not Be Named has 37% or 74 votes. Ingenuity and PC/Mac-hopping must be boiled up! If a PC-limited guy like me can cast 12% of your total votes, I’m sure the more computer literate readers of you fine blog can at least meet the 12%….which means an additional 5 votes per voter. All you need is 5 folks doing their multiple-personality best to get to a total of 75 votes, i.e., First Place.
So, Isoglossiacs! Multi-vote!

Look,
It’s not that I have anything against Mme. LeMeg. I’m sure if she won, she’d look much prettier in the Satin PJs’ what with her Amelie-ish blog portrait and everything, than you would. Plus, she seems to be a good sport, which counts for a lot.
But, you in Satin PJ’s would be a stitch and you know that saying about stitches in time and such.
I hope the cavalry is coming. I’m rounding up my daughter’s Facebook chums so I’m looking for some high numberage from that corner of the Internet lot. You’re within 12 votes of the Cosmopolitan one!
