Thanks to all of you for the Christmas/solstice/European winter shorts wishes. That last picture, Darko, shows my father and uncle celebrating, if that's the word, a Christmas some 61 years past. I love it, too.

LOVE that last picture! Toy envy, complete with the European-style Winter shorts. I remember my mom decking me out in a similar style. Could never figure out why I saw snow outside on the sidewalk and then peeked down to see pink flesh and goosepimples on my exposed legs. Signed it off to Old World customs along the lines of the Smenge socks-on-trees.

When my American friends spied some Old World pictures of me in Winter Shorts, I had to immediately spring into CPR mode to revive them from excessive mirth.

HA! HA! HA! Thanks, Mama.

Very cool. Having one of them around makes the whole season so much cooler, eh?

And by the way, Santa (in the form of a card and some pictures and--what? is that a magnet?--from you) came today. Thanks. Happy Winter Solstice to you, too.

Merry Christmas!

(I would have sent this greeting on the actual day but was in the Land of Dial-Up, a very slow, sad, frustrating place to be.)
