3×3 #10: the madness in earnest
Unless I’m using it to photograph fog, the camera in my phone is approximately as good as useless. Still, I was happy to have it during a recent trip to the bloody Mercator to document the sudden explosion of drek. If you’re bothered by the picture quality, be glad I’m not posting pictures of fog.

It tingles the heart to see that the world-wide economic formulae have successfully calculated that exactly the same level of Christmas dreck be spread world-wide. Adam Smith, that merry old troll, would be a wide-smiled guy to see what capitalism had wroth.
I have to admit my hand is wandering to my back pocket in search of the money that I can exchange for one of those green-suited Santas. Why is that one snowman holding up a sign in English? A Wal-Mart greeter?

Can you pinpoint for us exactly why and when you started hating holidays? Was there some holiday-related trauma in your past? Or do you only hate American holidays, because you don’t seem to mind Slovenian holidays honoring obscure people? Or is just that the Slovenian obscurity holidays don’t come with a rash of consumerism?
As for me, I pass on the post-Thanksgiving shopping, I make most of my gifts and decorations, and I love the holidays like Mr. T loves gold chains. Can’t get enough. Giddy from Halloween on.
Is this why I have never received any kind of holiday gift from you? Is it that you hate my giddiness?
This year for Thanksgiving, me and the kid constructed “turkeys” out of Rice Krispies treats and candy. They are totally awesome.
