Perritos Veracruzanos jugando al poker
Apropos of nothing:
In the winter of 1995 I met up with my sister, her husband, and a handful of their loser friends from Montana, and we flew to Mexico to climb some volcanoes. The second peak on our itinerary of three was inconveniently active, so we changed our plans and made our way to the coast. I remember eating lots of shellfish. I can’t recall much about the hotel where we stayed in Veracruz, other than that the decor in our room included dogs playing poker.
Dogs playing poker.

Actually, I believe that is a painting of one dog playing the accordion while the other dogs slowly realize, with increasing horror, that he isn’t going to stop anytime soon. Frankly, they should just follow the example of the bassett hound/beagle/dachschund in the foreground and beat feet [paws] out of there.

Accordion? I thought he was just a show-offy shuffler.

Well, that too.

This picture is truly ridiculous. I mean, who ever heard of a pipe-smoking dog. That’s truly stretching it.

Yeah, a pipe-smoking dog is weird, but as a native of Virginia, I have to tell you that the cigarette-smoking dog looks perfectly normal.
